A paradise for cyclists

From mountain bikers to leisure cyclists - Marling and its surroundings offer a variety of exciting tours for everyone.

Anyone looking out the window in Marling and gazing over the entire valley doesn’t need a map to know that numerous exciting bike routes and mountain bike tours await them here. The diverse landscape of contrasts, elevations, and depressions amidst vineyards, forests, and meadows makes the alpine-Mediterranean Merano region an exciting mountain bike destination, offering MTB tours of all levels from 300 to 3,000 meters in height.

A special highlight for cyclists in the region is the Etschradroute along the Via Claudia Augusta. This popular bike route follows the Etsch River from its source at the Reschen Pass to Verona. It passes through picturesque villages and historic towns, alongside orchards and vineyards, offering an ideal combination of natural beauty and culture. The route is well-maintained and suitable for all ages and fitness levels, making it a perfect excursion destination for families and leisure cyclists. From Marling, the Etschradroute is easily accessible and offers cyclists the chance to fully enjoy the South Tyrolean lowlands and the Venosta Valley.

Around Marling, in the Texel Group Nature Park, on the Nörderberg near Naturns, and in the pristine Ultental, there are also high-alpine single trails. Thanks to the mild climate, experienced mountain bikers can conquer challenging routes year-round with the guides from the South Tyrol MTB Academies. Slightly below, the Bike Highline Meran connects the alpine pastures on the Naturns Nörderberg. It stretches 25 km through the mountainous landscape of the lower Vinschgau. Cozy routes lead here from alpine pasture to alpine pasture and from hut to hut.

Road cyclists can embark on exciting tours over the picturesque Gampenstraße up to the Mendel Pass or, for the adventurous, to the impressive Stelvio Pass. These routes offer breathtaking views and challenging climbs, suitable for both experienced cyclists and ambitious beginners. Whether you want to enjoy nature or push your limits, these routes promise unforgettable experiences.

All these destinations are just a stone’s throw away from centrally located Marling.

Cantina Merano Winery in Marling – tradition and quality 🍇🍷

Cantina Merano Winery is deeply rooted in our land. Tradition, landscape, and viticulture have always been closely linked in the Merano region. The foundation was laid in 1901 with just a few winegrowers. Today, after the merger of the Burggräfler Winery and the Cantina Merano Winery, we count 350 members.

Where does the harvest come from? The region – two contrasting wine regions 🏔️
The Merano area and the Vinschgau offer exciting contrasts. From the extreme alpine conditions in the Vinschgau, with large temperature fluctuations and steep vineyards, to the gentle, sun-kissed hills around Merano – the best grape varieties thrive here.

What makes the wine so special? 🍷✨
Quality in the vineyard, quality in the work, and quality in the glass – these are our highest priorities. The origin and provenance of the grapes must always be recognizable in the glass. The wine should stay true to its "roots" – it’s about transparency, character, and authenticity. Each bottle of Merano wine becomes a special experience.

What’s your favorite type of wine? 🍇🍷

Frost protection – safeguarding apple blossoms 🌸🍏

Low temperatures in spring can damage delicate apple blossoms and threaten the harvest. ❄️ The solution? Frost protection spraying! During cold snaps, blossoms are sprayed with water, which freezes into a layer of ice, protecting them from the frost. 🌱🍏 Thanks to this method, apple farmers can protect their crops and minimize frost damage. A fascinating natural phenomenon! 🌿🍎
